Edna Sawdayee - Wedding Celebrant and Vow Renewals in West Scotland

About Me

Bespoke Life Celebrant

I am a qualified OneSpirit Interfaith Minister and life celebrant.  I am trained to create and conduct bespoke ceremonies and, as part of my wider ministry, I offer my services as a celebrant.

I have a strong passion for co-creating and delivering a personal and unique wedding ceremony that truly reflects you as a couple.  I can help you to plan a wedding ceremony that respects your individual beliefs and wishes.  I take a person-centred approach to creating ceremony that reflects individual life paths, life stories and philosophies.  The ceremony may be non-religious/non-faith based, religious/faith-based, semi-religious, a spiritual path of your own, a nature or earth-based tradition, or your own life path based on your own philosophy or a mix of all these… it is your choice, your belief, your ceremony.

I will co-create and write a beautifully crafted ceremony and deliver it in a style appropriate to your needs.  I will always maintain a sensitive, heart-felt and respectful approach to crafting and delivering your bespoke ceremony in English and/or in Hebrew.  I am comfortable with, and skilled at, including elements of different life philosophies, beliefs, religions and faith paths into ceremony.

In addition to being a life celebrant, I am a holistic therapist who has developed and delivered personal development and therapy programmes, and I also practice as a spiritual counsellor.  In addition, I facilitate women’s circles, teach meditation and offer workshops and retreats.

I am affiliated with the OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation and adhere to their code of conduct and, as such, I am able to conduct legal wedding ceremonies, if required.  I am fully insured as a life celebrant.

Vow renewals

Weddings and Civil Partnerships, Vow Renewals, Commitment Ceremonies

My intention as a life celebrant and Interfaith Minister is to work alongside you in co-creating a fitting, beautiful and personal ceremony for you.

In today’s world many people are developing their own philosophies, beliefs and paths.  I will co-create an individual life-centred and personal ceremony in a way that reflects you as a couple and your life.

For example, a couple who come from different religious and/or cultural backgrounds may wish to bring a blend of themselves and their backgrounds into the ceremony.

Or, as a couple, you may not be formally religious and do not attend a place of worship, but would like an element of religion in your ceremony without the restraint of a traditional service.

Or, as a couple, you may have several spiritual or philosophical views and beliefs that you wish to have combined in a ceremony that ensures that your life path and beliefs are reflected.

Or, as couple, you may be completely non-religious/non-spiritual and would like to include poems, readings, affirmations or music from various traditions and sources as part of your bespoke ceremony.

By truly reflecting you as a couple, your beliefs, outlook and your life, your ceremony will be an uplifting, positive, meaningful and joyful experience.

Heart stone

A Ceremony may include, for example

  • Opening Words and Welcome
  • Storytelling
  • Music
  • Readings – religious/non-religious
  • Hymns/Mantras/Singing/Chants
  • Poetry
  • Vow taking
  • Exchange of Rings
  • Hand fasting
  • Legal Aspect – words and document signing, if required
  • Images, symbolism
  • Family and Friends participation
  • Blessings
  • Ritual – from various traditions

There are many different traditional, religious/non-religious or personal rituals and aspects that may also be included in a ceremony, for example, handfasting, ring-warming, jumping the besom, sand ceremony, candle lighting….it is vast and the choice is yours.  We can design together a wonderful creative ceremony that can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish it to be.
